Financial Aid

Ohio offers two major scholarship programs, and every K-5 student is eligible for one or the other.

Cleveland Scholarships

The Cleveland Scholarship Program provides students who reside within the city of Cleveland the opportunity to attend participating private schools, like Messiah Lutheran School. Cleveland Scholarships are valued at $6,165 for the 2023-2024 year, and are renewable every year.

EdChoice Scholarships

Students who live outside the city of Cleveland are eligible for an EdChoice Scholarship. The amount of the scholarship varies based on household income. For the 2023-2024 year, the maximum amount of the scholarship is $6,165 and the minimum scholarship is $950. Scholarships are renewable every year, and families only need to complete income verification for their first year.

Income Verification Form

The LSGO scholarship program is new to Messiah for the 2024-2025 year. These scholarships are funded by donations to the LSGO, for which donors receive an Ohio state tax credit. These scholarships are available to students in PS-Grade 5. Scholarships are awarded prioritizing need, are given in variable amounts based on need, and are limited to the total of donations to Messiah’s LSGO. Applicants must submit their tax return form 1040 as income verification.

Additional need-based aid is funded by Messiah’s donors. To apply for additional financial aid based on need, please fill out Messiah’s FACTS Financial Aid Application. FACTS need-based scholarships will be awarded to students who have already applied to Messiah School, and have already completed their Cleveland/EdChoice (if K-5) AND LSGO scholarship applications. 

Families with more than one child will receive a tuition discount of $300 ($100 for partial day students in PS/PK).

As an expression of gratitude, Messiah offers a tuition discount of $300 for all children of active-duty U.S. military personnel.

Active members of the Messiah Lutheran Church congregation will receive priority in need-based aid awards.
